Hollywood awarded the best in film at this year’s Oscars - and we've created our own fashionista awards as opposed to simply naming best and worst dressed. Here they are, in no particular order:
Most Surprising - Kristen Stewart (above) of Twilight fame (and of the“I have a stomach virus and may be ill at any moment” school of acting) normally looks like she hasn’t showered in days and threw on whatever clothes happened to be lying on her bedroom floor at premieres and awards shows. But at the Oscars, she stunned in a Monique Lhullier gown (which looked like a bridal gown in navy), feminine and polished, complete with an updo.
Best Overall - Cameron Diaz: Often hit or miss on the red carpet, Ms. Diaz (above) turned in an award-winning performance in her gold embellished Oscar de La Renta gown, sleek golden tresses and red lips. She was what the Oscars are all about: Hollywood glamour, style and grace.
Most Welcome Burst of Spring Color - Rachel McAdams (above): Romantic and whimsical in a strapless Elie Saab gown that looked as soft and romantic as a watercolor painting.
Runner Up, Most Welcome Burst of Spring Color - Maggie Gyllenhaal (above with brother Jake) also wore a gorgeous, bold print in shades of blue and black. Her formfitting Dries Van Noten dress looked as if the fabric had been painted upon.
Most Overpowered by Her Gown - Vera Farmiga (above): we know ruffles are all the rage, but the Up In The Air actress looked as though she was being consumed by the voluminous sea fan-style ruffles of her red Marchesa gown.
Worst Performance By a Style All-Star - Christina Hendricks (above): The Mad Men actress looked so incredibly beautiful at this year’s Golden Globes - not to mention how amazing she looks week after week on her show - but she fell short with this unflattering t-length black gown with a huge poof at the bottom. Totally unflattering and totally unnecessary. We expect more from you, Christina!
