The color palette at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards was as vibrant as the show’s orange carpet!  Traditionally less glitzy than the Oscars or the Golden Globes, most stars in attendance looked effortlessly elegant without going too overboard on gowns and oversized accessories.

Most stars wore short dresses in bright colors to the Nick network’s big night.  Glee’s Lea Michelle was bubbly and beautiful in a pink mini by Zac Posen.  Teen star Victoria Justice glowed in an off-the-shoulder green mini with gladiator booties and long, loose brunette waves.  Tyra Banks dazzled in a formfitting red sheath with pointy, bright yellow pumps.  With a simple long bob and matching yellow clutch, Tyra embodied understated elegance.  Teen queen Selena Gomez evoked a Grecian goddess in a draped marigold mini and delicate gold sandals.    

Texture also reigned the orange carpet - almost all of the aforementioned starlets had ruched and ruffled dresses, adding dimension and richness to their already eye-popping looks.  Miranda Cosgrove looked very grown up in a ruffled scarlet cocktail dress with a sweetheart neckline. Twilight star Nikki Reed's ruched mini was gorgeously floral and looked fantastic with glittery heels.

Many stars made understated fashion statements that worked incredibly well on the orange carpet.  Avatar actress Zoe Saldana stepped out in some incredibly skinny jeans, a cropped Isabel Marant blazer, and Christian Louboutin heels for the event, and she embodied pulled-together chic.

One major fashion misstep - singer Katy Perry in an over-the-top glittery number, hopefully inspired by her hit song “Waking Up in Vegas” and not a dress she’s normally wear!
