Bridal couture isn’t just for your wedding day. In colors other than white and with less traditional accessories, bridal gowns can be worn as evening wear, too - just take a cue from some stars we’ve recently seen on the red carpet.
An E! stylist notes that bridal trends are veering towards glamorous evening wear looks: “Brides want to feel more like they’re in the spotlight on the red carpet for their wedding day, and less like a princess.”
These sleeker, less traditional bridal looks translate to the red carpet often with a color change. Glee actress Lea Michelle (above) wore a voluminous Oscar de la Renta wedding dress in black to the Golden Globes, accessorized with emerald and diamond Chopard jewels. Felicity Huffman (above with husband William H. Macy) wore an ethereal peach version of a bejeweled wedding dress for a seriously stunning red carpet look. Monique Lhullier is the reigning queen of bridal couture - and a hot pink version of one of her strapless organza bridal gowns helped Toni Collette (above) make quite a statement at the 2009 Emmys.
Kate Hudson (above) wore the bridal as evening wear trend literally at this year’s Golden Globes, wearing a structured white Marchesa gown. She made the look less bridal with Casadei platform pumps and Stephen Russell diamond jewelry.
Whether you’re getting ready for your big day or just a big night on the town, you can make bridal fashion work for you!
