Goodbye winter, hello warmer weather!
Put away your drab grays, blacks, and browns and step into something floral! Floral prints are in for spring and summer, and this season’s fresh picks are anything but your grandmother’s flowered dresses: many prints are large with bold explosions of color to catch the eye and lift your mood.
Dresses are a great way to wear the trend - with the most space for a bold pattern to play out, it makes the most noticeable fashion statement. If you’d like to break it up, do so with a solid colored jacket or cardigan. Nothing looks fresher than a floral sun dress, whether worn casually or to the office. Anthropologie has some beautiful ones to choose from this spring!
Petite women (like actress Nikki Reed, above) can carry off smaller prints that don’t overwhelm their frames, while women with fuller figures can easily wear larger prints without getting lost in them.
As we saw last summer, citrus hues continue to be hot. Try florals in shades of lemon, orange and lime.
And if you do step out in a bold floral pattern, keep everything else simple. If you’re wearing a floral dress, shoes and bags are best in more muted shades without a lot of extra details. If you’re wearing a floral print top, stick to a solid shade cardigan and jeans.
If you’re nervous about trying an all-over print, you can try a cardigan, shoes, or jewelry with rosette detailing - you’ll still pack plenty of flower power!
